Description
A moody, rich, and evocative view—through a porthole as if in a memory—of trees on a hill. Deeply, deeply embossed in the paper, beautifully inked, and finely detailed.
This work has a superb provenance. It was part of the great collection of Steve and Stephanie Alpert and it first belonged to Herb Fox, a gift from the artist Ruth Rodman. Fox was among the great printers of the printmaking renaissance of the mid-Twentieth century, printing works for Leonard Baskin, Yan Macs, Sloat Shaw, Michael Ventresca, James Aponovich, Robert Cottingham, Paul Rotterdam, and many others.
