The Cat and the Fiddle

$500.00

Description

Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon!
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran off with the spoon!

L. Frank Baum’s famous poem (though perhaps no one knows that it was Baum’s poem) is given a new look in Daniel Pelavin’s silkscreen for the Serigrafia’s Mother Goose portfolio.  Pelavin, a very highly-regarded illustrator, brings whimsy and extraordinary creativity to his work. Here, the cat and his fiddle are joined by the mouse playing air guitar while the dish does the “running man”.

The Mother Goose portfolio was issued in an edition of 300, with 100 copies retained by the artists, 100 copies retained by Serigrafia, and 100 copies donated to The Children’s Health Fund for sale at an initial offering price of $5000. The portfolio was designed by Chiu Li Design.
