Description
This work is probably Luis Arenal’s most iconic image. It has been identified as “Woman of Taxco” [Mujer de Taxco] and Head of an Indian Woman [Cabeza de Indigena], but it is most often referred to as “Head of a Woman” [Cabeza de Mujer].
Impressions of this work are held in the collections of Mexico City’s Museo Nactional de Arte and, in the United States, MOMA (MoMa Ref. No. 38.1954), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Ref. No. M.2001.111.2), the San Diego Museum of Art (Acc. No. 2008.4), the Portland Art Museum, and the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill (Ref. No. 58.2.97).
