Description
Clayton Pond was commissioned to make this work by The Print Club of Albany for their 1989-1990 annual print. With deep, rich, jewel-tone colors, this picture immediately evokes a summer day.
Pond explained that this print was based on an original painting that he had made during a visit to Lake Pleasant in August 1989. He and his wife sat inside, with a fire in the wood-burning stove, looking out the window at the lake and the catamaran sailboat, awaiting hearty souls ready to brave the crisp Fall weather.
Pond wrote:
“Although much of the visual emphasis of this image is on the interior of the cabin, the window, the table and chair and the porch, the eye tends to be drawn to the landscape beyond–a new subject matter consideration for me. In creating this image, I delighted in the use of exciting, high energy colors, the design of a tightly knit composition, and the development of a drawing whose lines are created with the coming together of dynamic color shapes.”
