Description

Fionn Mac Cumhaill was an Irish folk hero, brought to America by Irish immigrants.  William Gropper portrayed the Americanized Finn Mac Cool in his American Folk Heroes Portfolio as an American workingman who conquered the land with strength and confidence.  In the Americanized version of the story, Finn Mac Cool gains his strength and wisdom through hard work and dedication to his family.
