C215 (French)
Description
C215 is widely considered to be among the world’s leading street artists. Born Christian GuĂ©my, C215’s moniker derives from the prison cell in which he was once locked away.
C215 began making graffiti art in about 1990, spray painting in 2005, and stencil art in about 2006. This work, from 2009, is early from C215’s stencil work.
C215’s focus is on creating portraits for people overlooked by others, like elders, beggar children, and refugees.
