Description
This work is an early example of the reflected-light three-dimensional sculptural constructions which would be the focus of Melvin F. Butor’s life’s work. It is remarkable because thought it was constructed very early in Butor’s career, it demonstrates remarkable maturity in vision and construction. It is an exemplar of his work, demonstrating the interaction of material and light which is found in all of Butor’s work—but in this example pared down to its very essence.
