Albert Henry Payne

Albert Henry Payne was a London-born steel engraver.  He moved to Leipzig in 1839, became a citizen in 1845, and founded a publishing company in Leipzip called Englische Kunstanstalt [English Art Institute]. He was also a painter and illustrator.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds some two dozen works by Payne, a testament to Payne’s skill and importance.
