Howard Hodgkin

Howard Hodgkin was a blue-chip artist of enormous stature.  He represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 1984 and the following year won the Turner Prize.  In 1992 he was knighted.

Hodgkin’s work bears a trademark look using broad, gestural brushstrokes and a vivid palette of contrasting colors.

Hodgkin’s work is found at MOMA and the Tate Modern, where a major retrospective of his work was mounted in 2006.
